The Steam Updater often gives miscellaneous errors. Here's a general recollection of many types of errors:
ContentServer rejected client login
This error most of the time is caused by a busy Steam server. Normally, hammering the updater will allow you to update your server after many tries.
Winsock error 10054: Connection Reset By Peer
Similar to the 'Rejected client login' error, except that your connection got cut in the middle of an update. Start your server now and it might not work. If it still fails after many tries, you might need to reinstall your server. If you do fill a support ticket about this, make sure with the tech that the install has been updated to the latest version.
